Sentinus is again organising Seagate Young Innovators,
supported by Seagate Technology (
Ireland
), SETNET, Young Engineers, the Royal Air Force, BA and CREST Awards. As you know the event
is now an established part of the academic calendar and is the
largest of its kind in the
United Kingdom
.
This year it will, once more, be very much a celebration of the achievement of young people throughout
Northern Ireland
and indeed the Republic. It
brings together primary and post primary pupils from schools throughout
Ireland
, in a celebration of innovation, creativity and excellence in science and technology and business/education links.
Comprising Northern Ireland Young Scientists, Young Engineers for
Britain
and Junior Engineers for Britain Competitions, along with other associated activities, this year’s event will take place at the Odyssey Arena,
Belfast
on Friday 23rd June. It will begin at
9.00am
and conclude at
4.00pm
after the Award Ceremony.
More than 500 young people between the ages of 10 and 19 years will compete in the event and it is estimated that a further 1,000 will attend to view the exhibition.

Seagate Young Innovators is the largest event of its kind in the
United Kingdom
and gives pupils the opportunity to progress to compete in National, European and International competitions. The aims of the event are:
•
to raise awareness of science, engineering and technology through innovative project work with an industrial relevance, while encouraging schools to develop links with business and industry through specific collaborative ventures;
•
encourage young people with good scientific and technical ideas to adopt an entrepreneurial approach in turning ideas into reality;
•
give young people the opportunity to demonstrate their creativity and ingenuity through problem solving activities with a view to displaying them as examples of best practice in
Northern Ireland
schools.
Seagate Young Innovators is now regarded by SETNET as a model for development of other collaborative events of this nature throughout the
United Kingdom
.
