Lisburn Community Network works actively with around 160 community and voluntary groups in the greater Lisburn area. Every group is at a different stage in its development. some may just be starting out, and exploring their options. Many groups have become well established over the years, and have grown considerably in size. Other groups may have reached a point where they are uncertain about their future direction.

However, regardless of what stage your group is at, there is one need which remains consistent. That is the need for training. Approaches to community development are changing all the time. Community groups have increasing demands placed upon them in terms of funding, policies, objectives, evaluation, volunteer management - to name just a few. The availability of quality training is a valuable resource to any community or voluntary group. It will help you to keep up with changing communties, new approaches to community development, and the ever-growing demands from statutory bodies.

Lisburn Community Network offers a range of essential training options for community and voluntary groups in the greater Lisburn area. This training is provided free of change, and is available to all members of your organisation - paid staff, volunteers, board and committee members. Training sessions will be arranged at a time and venue that is suitable for your group.

Training available includes the following options:

  • good governance (roles & responsibilities of committee members)
  • strategic planning
  • how to complete a good funding application
  • monitoring & evaluation

The training options currently available have been provided in direct response to your needs and demans. If you have a particular training need, please let us know.
